Used with written permission. 2 Peter 1:2: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. Before commenting on faith*s *additives,* we need to take inventory of some of the things we*re going to be adding to--some of the gifts we have received from the Lord by faith, without working for them. His grace is free. *By grace are ye saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast* (Eph. 2:8-9). God gives us saving grace, keeping grace, enabling grace, sufficient grace, grace to live and grace to die. God*s peace is free. *Peace which passeth all understanding*--you can*t define it, weigh it, or nail it down, because it*s altogether divine. But you can experience its wonderful supporting strength! Peace is the quality of God, entering into your very nature (John 16:33). God*s joy is free. Our blessed Lord Jesus said, *These things have I spoken unto you that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full* (John 15:11). Full means *running over.* Your cup may be small, but it can overflow a lot! God*s power is free. What kind of power? The Apostle Paul wrote that the power that works in the believer is the same power that God *wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead* (Eph. 1:20). Resurrection power is ours--now. God*s equipment for the Christian life is free. *According as His divine power hath given to us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him* (2 Peter 1:3). Small thought here. Are you aware of how rich you really are? Now, urges Peter, build on that--add to that! |
